INCOSE is a global professional society committed to advancing the definition, understanding, and practice of world-class systems engineering across industry, academia, and government.
Our chapter serves members throughout the Charleston Lowcountry area, supporting the growth and application of systems engineering within our local community. Our members represent a wide range of sectors—including aerospace, defense, energy, technology, healthcare, manufacturing, government, and academia.
We are a local community of professionals consisting of systems engineers well as others that utilize “systems thinking”. INCOSE members are not only systems engineers by trade, training or profession, but we’re all dedicated to excellence in the practice and involvement in strengthening the SE community of Charleston, South Carolina.
We welcome systems engineering professionals from all industries and invite you to get involved in our chapter.

Chapter Mission
To increase knowledge of systems engineering in South Carolina for our members and across industry domains, governmental partners and educational institutions.
Chapter Objectives
Provide a focal point for dissemination of systems engineering knowledge, and through its involvement with the COUNCIL to:
- Promote collaboration in systems engineering education and research.
- Assure the establishment of profession standards for integrity in the practice of systems engineering.
- Improve the professional status of all persons engaged in the practice of systems engineering.
- Encourage governmental and industrial support for research and educational programs that will improve the systems engineering process and its practice.
Chapter Activities
- Sponsor education, training, and certification workshops for engineers interested in obtaining an Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification, which many industry contracts are requiring as a discriminator when evaluating multiple bids.
- Provide an international and domestic network of seasoned Systems Engineering professionals focused on addressing the needs of various member industries through case studies, graduate/undergraduate research, and working groups.
- Stay connected within our Charleston community to identify business opportunities and trends in order to support professional development and growth within the local economy.
